Identity Crisis: Finding My Identity in Christ

If I don’t know who I am, I will begin to believe the lies that say:

I’m a mistake

My characteristics are a mistake

I need to hide those things within me

I’m here to tell you…🗣None of it is a mistake!

What God Thinks of You

God knew you before you were even formed in your mother’s womb! He created you on purpose WITH purpose sis! 

Don’t take my word for it though, let’s see what God has to say about you: 

You are a child of God

John 1:12

You have been justified and redeemed

Romans 3:23-24; Romans 6:6

You are a new creature in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17

In Christ Jesus, you have wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

1 Corinthians 1:30

and let’s not forget: 

You are God's workmanship created to produce good works.

Ephesians 2:10

Just because “they” can’t see the value in who you are and the GIFTS, yup I said GIFTS, God has placed within you that doesn’t make them any less of a gift to this world and those around you. 

We Are Not of this World

One more thing...remember we’re not citizens of this world, we’re citizens of heaven! (Philippians 3:20) We’re meant to stand out, to look different, and to display God’s light wherever we go.

Is it easy….heck NO!

Can it be frustrating at times….heck YES!

But were we created for this…..ABSOLUTELY!

We need each other AND the gifts God has placed inside of us. Don’t you dare dim your light to fit in sis...

Breaking Free From the Lies of the Enemy

We’re breaking lies up off of us today in Jesus name! You will not leave here with those lies clinging onto your life...let them DIE! And let’s speak truth back to ourselves...but not just any “truth” I mean God’s truth! What He has to say about us!

I can guarantee God has sent someone your way to speak over your life at one point or another. Sometimes it can be something as simple as them acknowledging something you’re good at, but you brushed it off? Better yet have you been hearing the same thing over and over from multiple people ? 👀 

Girl you better start paying attention lol, that’s God building you up in that gift sis! Instead of brushing it off, come into agreement with that thang and ask God:

1.  HOW that gift works in conjunction with the call on your life

2. For Him to train you up in that thang

3. Trust Him and walk freely in whatever He brings your way

Don’t be scared...God crafted you for this thang sis! You got this! And God’s got you!

Maybe someone came up to you in church as a child and spoke of the mighty things you would go on to do.

Can you remember that word sis?

What did they say? 

How relevant is it to your life today and does the Holy Spirit in you come into agreement with what was said ( NOT your mind or your own understanding...but the Holy Spirit...can feel almost like a “gut feeling”)?

If the Holy Spirit agrees, then sis you should be too. Take a step toward that thang by:

1. shaking your head in agreement 

2. surrendering that word to God in prayer for Him to use it however He pleases 

3. Buckle up and get ready for the ride lol

For Those Who are Weary

Maybe you have a heavy heart and it’s hard to even remember the words God has spoken over you. Sis, let me tell you ...it’s NOT too late….it’s NEVER too late! Lay those burdens down! Drop them right where you stand and run into the Father’s arms! Allow Him to wash you, heal you, and build you back up so that you are able to stand. When the enemy bombards you with fear, doubt, confusion, and old wounds...remember this: 

The peace of God guards your heart and mind.

Philippians 4:7

You belong to God!

If that’s you, know that you’re not alone in this fight sis! I’ve been where you are and the enemy has tricks to try to bring me back, BUT I’m fighting to stay on the solid ground our God has built and I’m not loosening up grip. Sis, you don’t have to stay in that place of hurt, confusion, doubt, or fear. I invite you down to the altar with me, right now. 

The reprieve you’re looking for…is in God!

The understanding you're looking for...is in God!

The direction you're looking for...is in God!

The answers you’re looking for…is in God!

It’s all in God sis!

So, let’s place everything else to the side for now and go back to the source sis, God Himself!

Lay Down Your Burdens

Let’s start by releasing those burdens down off of your shoulders, as if you were letting go of that huge purse you carry around with everything but the kitchen sink in it. *whispers* I’m guilty too, those thangs weigh you down! But we need everything in it right? Wrong, sis I was carrying around things I never even used...they were just dead weight. And that’s exactly what those burdens are that you’re carrying...they’re just dead weight….until you give them to the Father. He can do far more with it and even turn it around and use those tears sis, use that hurt, use that situation, so that none of it was in vain. BUT you have to give it to Him first…

God can handle anything you have to say and some! If you need to scream, SCREAM! If you need to weep, weep sis! If you need to fall out like a toddler and have a tantrum, do it (preferably in the comfort of your own home lol). 

But don’t just get up and leave afterwards, stay! It’s in the staying that you begin to find peace, rest, and reprieve.

P.S. It’s okay to cry sis, and I mean UGLY cry! Get that junk out of you sis every ounce of what you’ve been holding on to….release it AND watch what He does with it!
